Alan and Kathy Simpson
Alan Simpson received
Christ at the age of 22 after hearing that God was more interested
in a relationship than a religion. The individual that shared this
revelation also quoted Jesus Christ in Revelation 3:20 "Behold,
I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open
the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with
me." On the way to work that night a popular song by Paul McCartney
aided in his conversion: Someone's Knocking at Your Door. He surrendered
his life to live for Christ and to do the work Christ would give
him.
After five years of Bible College, Alan and Kathy served a variety
of churches in and around BC for the past twenty years. During this
time Alan owned and operated his own business for five years while
leading an outreach event and planting a congregation in Cloverdale.
Recently, Alan completed his MA in Conflict Analysis and Management
at Royal Roads University in Victoria while continuing to pastor
and lead a congregation in Cloverdale. Alan & Kathy concluded
their ministry in this congregation after serving them for 12 years.
Alan has been a part of the City Church movement for most of his
pastoral career. He has used his influence to gathering pastors
and church leaders for prayer and relationship without borders.
He has been instrumental in leading processes for change in the
way the church manages negative conflict. Alan's passion is to see
the Church of Jesus Christ take its rightful place in the advancement
of the Kingdom of God in the City of Surrey and beyond.
Alan and Kathy have been married 25 years this June and have two
precious adult daughters. One of which is living in Edinburgh, Scotland
and the eldest is a TWU nursing student. They live in a heritage
house in downtown Cloverdale.

ABOUT
US
.......It's really all about prayer.
Start to Finish
What started out years ago as a small, seemingly "insignificant"
prayer gathering of a few Pastors in Surrey has grown into a movement
of unity here in our city. In the last few years, the Pastors of
many churches have started to make this Wednesday noon prayer meeting
a real priority. From the beginning, it has been about prayer, and
it will continue to be all about prayer. We meet weekly on Wednesday
at noon - currently at Cedar Grove Church 10330 - 144th Street.
Schools and Prayer
It is out of this prayer meeting that deep relationships and wonderful
ideas are birthed. This group has prayed for all of the schools
in Surrey. That is quite a task. They contacted the school leadership
and asked for their concerns. Once a month, we split up into small
groups and each went to a school, walking around it on a "prayer
walk."
Unprecedented Unity
The concept of a combined Good Friday Service came out of this prayer
meeting. It really came together and so did we! For three years,
we have fully packed Chandos Pattison Auditorium with people from
various denominations. We really enjoyed being together, and it
was clear that God was doing something in our midst. We also shared
the covenant that we as Pastors made with one another. It is clear
that the Church is tired of all of the division, disunity and distrust,
and this true unity in Spirit is spreading like wild-fire.
...truly committed!
We are COVENANT KEEPING PASTORS.....
We have made the following covenant with each other and are committed
to uphold it with all our fellow Pastors in the City of Surrey:
We covenant together to speak and act supportively toward our fellow
Pastors and their ministries in the city.
We covenant together to promote, encourage and support the unifying
effort of the Church of Surrey.
We covenant together to focus on the absolutes of Scripture, and
to minimize our doctrinal distinctives.
We will respect one another's differing interpretations.
We covenant together to meet weekly to pray that the activity of
the Holy Spirit would increase in our city.
We covenant together to promote the work of the Kingdom of God above
our own particular work and our own method or style of "doing
church".
We covenant together to walk with one another in humility, unity,
honesty, purity and accountability under the authority of Jesus
our King.
Striving together to increase the beauty of the
Bride in Surrey, your fellow servants.
Therefore, we invite you to be
COVENANT KEEPING PEOPLE!
