SPN
Surrey Pastor Network — Church of Surrey
The Surrey Pastors Network (SPN) officially became a recognized
non-profit society two years ago and received charitable status
last Easter (2005). However, the group that founded the regular
prayer meetings and the relational networking started many years
ago. For several years pastors have met for weekly prayer in three
primary locations in the city: Cloverdale, White Rock and Central
Surrey. Those groups have developed at various rates according to
the initiative of key leaders and the participation of the local
pastors. In each of them there is a genuine valuing of the diverse
expressions of Christ’s body in the city.
Early last year (March, 2005) the SPN servant leadership team discerned
that the workload and the potential for growing our influence in
the city would require one of our own to take the lead with a part
time paid position. We presented this at our pastors group and to
the Church of Surrey at the annual Good Friday gathering. You affirmed
this decision with your wallets and we initiated a one year contract
of 16 hours a week. The mandate of the Surrey Pastors Network Servant
Leader is to advance functional and spiritual networks of relationships
between pastors and their congregations to further the work of the
Kingdom of God in the City of Surrey. This is accomplished through
three primary avenues: awareness, involvement, and networking events.
Throughout the year other individuals and congregations have given
generously to this ministry project. The influence of this position
and ministry focus has resulted in the following blessings and opportunities:
Greater awareness about the unity we share in the Church of Surrey
Increased collaboration between pastors, congregations and leaders
Ongoing prayer connections amongst leaders on behalf of our city
A greater voice into city hall about social and spiritual issues
Continued support for NightShift Street Ministry
Thank you for contributing to the unity and influence of the Church
of Surrey in the City by giving your offering. I am encouraged by
the Lord Himself to continue in this role as a pastor to the city
and without your continued help in prayer and support it will not
be possible.
Yours sincerely and in Christ,
Alan Simpson, SPN Servant Leader
